Luke grew up on an avocado farm in the rolling hills of New South Wales near the small town of Comboyne. The school he attended in Comboyne had around 30 students at most. He played the usual sports—soccer, tennis, surfing, and even karate—until he discovered BMX racing at 11 years old. Once Luke found mountain biking, he dropped everything else!
After a breakthrough 2025 season, his goals for 2026 are to finish in the Top 5 Overall of the DH UCI World Cup Series and achieve a Top 5 result at the DH UCI World Championships. His results at the end of the 2025 season have given him even more motivation to keep working hard and become a better version of himself, both on and off the bike, heading into 2026. In his spare time, Luke enjoys surfing and has recently taken up golf. He started surfing when he was young and finds it a great pastime when he’s not training for racing. Golf, he says, has been a fun mental challenge—especially with the number of dodgy shots he hits, “haha”! Luke’s biggest achievement is undoubtedly his win at the 2025 UCI DH World Cup in Lake Placid. He is also proud of his three consecutive Australian DH National Championship titles. This year, he’s going for number four—a huge motivator and a special opportunity to make history by matching Troy’s record of four consecutive titles.

The 2026 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships delivered unforgettable racing in Val di Sole – Trentino (Italy), with Tom Pidcock (Great Britain) and Sina Frei (Switzerland) claiming XCO rainbow jerseys, Valentina Höll (Austria) extending her downhill dominance with a fifth consecutive UCI World title, and Jackson Goldstone (Canada) successfully defending his crown.
